On July 5th, the Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA) held a conference titled ‘Promotion of the Andalusian bioeconomy through European projects’ at its newly established headquarters in Malaga Tech Park in Spain. The event served as a platform to bring together various initiatives funded by European resources that are dedicated to the advancement of bioeconomy in Andalusia. Supported by the European projects SCALE-UP and BIOTRANSFORM, the conference showcased 18 initiatives focused on biomass utilization and sustainable development within the region.
The conference highlighted the significance of collaboration in fostering innovation for the promotion of a circular economy. It featured a combination of oral presentations and an exhibition and networking area which provided an opportunity for attendees to engage in dialogue and foster connections. To encourage collaboration opportunities among the European projects, a ‘Catalogue of synergies’ was created, compiling technical details about the participating initiatives and their potential for cooperation.
The program contained two thematic blocks. The first block focused on European projects related to circular bioeconomy, where Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de Andalucía, as a project partner, presented Carina. Oter speakers introduced initiatives such as Agro2Circular, BIOVEXO, BeonNat, and BIOTRANSFORM. The second block was focused on European projects centered around the olive grove subsector, including projects like SOIL O-LIVE, OLEAF4VALUE, UP4HEALTH, SCALE-UP and INNOLIVAR.
